Summary: Ianto gives himself a scathing self assessment. A double drabble.
Ianto checked his reflection in the mirror and readjusted his tie, even though it was perfectly placed in the first instance, before looking back at himself once more, studying the semblance as it studied him back. It frowned its disapproval at him.
Today was supposed to be his first day back at work after suspension, but now that it was finally here he didn’t think he could ever go back. Just the thought of all those eyes on him, following his every move and reading into every expression was enough to make him want to run from Cardiff and never come back.
Worthless, he told his reflection, giving himself a singular assessment. He didn’t think Jack would come after him to finish the job if he ran. Who would bother with him? They would all be glad to see the back of him. In all likelihood they’d forgotten completely that today he was meant to be coming back. That would only make things worse.
He fiddled with his tie again, pinching it a little tighter around his neck, making sure it felt slightly uncomfortable. It would serve as a reminder that he was no longer invisible, and even more unpopular.
