Summary: Jack can be annoying when he's being a know it all. A triple drabble.
‘You wanna take a left at the engraving of Malackus the Malevolent and then look for a small alcove on the right,’ Jack said, pointing off some distance down the ornate corridor. ‘Just tip the right arm of the statue down ninety degrees and it’ll open up the hidden tunnels behind it.’
The Arcateen pumped Jack's hand. ‘That’s amazing. Thank you! They didn’t mention any of that in the guidebook.’ It turned to its travelling companion. ‘See? I told you those books were a waste of credits!’ They shuffled off, continuing their argument lightheartedly as they scurried towards their new recommendation.
Ianto shook his head. ‘You just can't help showing off how much you know about the universe, can you?’
‘What? I just want to make sure they get the most out of their time here.’
Ianto folded his arms. ‘And what about us? Aren’t we meant to be making sure we’re getting the most out of our time here?’
‘Hey, I’ve pointed out lots of fascinating things for you. It's not every day you get to marvel at the wonders of the universe.’
‘That’s my point. We’re supposed to be enjoying discovering things together. If I'd wanted the talking tour encyclopaedia I’d have hired one at the gift shop when we arrived.’
Jack grumbled something akin to accepting he was never going to win the argument. ‘Fine. How about I keep my big mouth shut for the rest of the trip?’
Ianto squeezed his petulant lover close to him. ‘Don’t be like that. You’re absolutely welcome to open your mouth as often as you like, just so long as you restrict it to “oohs” and “ahs”.’
Jack pouted. ‘Okay, but when you miss hearing the entire sordid history of my returning the stolen Canismati crown jewels, you’ll regret it.’
