Summary: Jack has an unfortunate run in with alien tech that's going to take some time to recover from. A triple drabble.

‘Everything seems to be back to normal,’ Owen said, wrapping his stethoscope around his neck.

‘Are you sure?’ Ianto said, not sounding convinced by Owen’s assessment, even though he had about as much medical training as a volunteer first-aider at a children’s football match. His hand surreptitiously found Jack’s and gave it a squeeze as Jack sat on the exam table.

‘As sure as anyone can be,’ Owen said, not letting Ianto’s questioning bait him. ‘He’s back to being human again and not some gelatinous mess from the planet Blob.’

Everyone had panicked when Jack’s molecular structure had fallen apart, turning him into a pile of mustard coloured goo. They’d panicked even more when the blobby mass had engulfed Ianto whole. According to Jack, who had retained a full conscious memory of events, he’d only been trying to hug Ianto, seeking out some comfort, whilst the cries of “please help fix me!” went by undeciphered from the gurgling noises he was making. Melting into a jelly monster was scary even for a seasoned professional like Jack.

Ianto was fine once Jack finally let go, more than a little frazzled, but clearer on Jack’s intentions. There had been some small telepathic field generated by the physical connection of skin to gel and so that was how they communicated through the crisis until Tosh could reverse the effects of the alien device that had caused it.

‘I still feel a little bit… saggy,’ Jack said, trying to find a word to describe the sensation. Like he might slide off the table and onto the floor if he tried to stand up and take his own weight.

‘Your bones will take some time to fully recalcify,’ Owen said. ‘Everything should eventually harden on its own.’

‘Promise?’ Jack asked, giving Owen a wink.

‘Don’t.’
