Summary: Sometimes normal is very under-rated. A double drabble.
Ianto lifted the cup to his nose and inhaled deeply, taking in the rich bitter aroma. There was no doubting that the Torchwood coffee machine was far and above better than the one they’d had at home – or at least the place he and Jack had been calling home whilst they’d been undercover on assignment – and he’d missed it dearly. In fact, he’d missed most things about the hub more than he ever thought he would. ‘Absence makes the heart grow fonder,’ he murmured, taking in another deep sniff.
‘Oi!’ Owen yelled out. ‘Are you going to finish making that blinking coffee this year or do I have to get Jack to hurry you up? Bad enough we’ve been drinking that muck Gwen keeps in her drawer for bloody ages.’
Ianto leaned back against the counter and just cupped the coffee to his nose, breathing it in, long and slow.
‘Oi!’ Owen yelled again. ‘Move your arse and get me my coffee Teaboy or I'll give you a welcome back physical exam that you won’t forget for a long time!’
Ianto leaned out from the kitchen and beamed at him. ‘Isn’t it just so lovely having everything back to normal?’
