Summary: Jack can't understand what's taking Ianto so long. A triple drabble.

‘Aren't you done yet?’ Jack complained, leaning back against the archive shelving with his arms folded and a seriously bored expression etched all over his face. Ianto had been down here for hours and Jack was not only hungry, but eager to satisfy a different kind of hunger that didn’t involve food, unless you counted whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

‘No, I'm not,’ Ianto replied, his tone short. ‘And don't lean against that shelf. It's half falling down as it is and I don't want you being the reason it falls all the way over, especially if it results in either of us ending up crushed under it. God only knows what kind of technology you might disrupt in the process.’

Jack heaved a long suffering sigh and stood back up straight. He didn't like being told what to do when it came to anything Torchwood, even if Ianto had become the unofficial master of the archives. He might not have known what everything down here did or was capable of, but that was the point of having extensive notes on each object and a carefully curated filing system that ensured dangerous or temperamental items were all located in specific areas, and away from each other if they might interact in unexpected ways.

‘This is taking ages,’ Jack said, carrying on with his complaints.

‘Hasn't anyone ever told you that if you spend double the time getting things right now, you halve the time later on, and that if you spend half the time now you’ll end up using double the effort later?’

Jack grunted. ‘From where I'm standing, making me wait double the time is only halving how much fun we have later.’

Ianto’s eyes rolled. ‘You would have to find a way to manipulate good advice, wouldn't you?’
