torchwood100Summary: Date night has taken an unexpected turn. A triple drabble.
Rain was beginning to fall across the city, ending hopes that Jack and ianto might spend their night quietly enjoying the stars and each other from atop the highest roof in Cardiff. ‘Let’s get out of the rain,’ Ianto said, heading for the stairwell door.
‘Age before beauty,’ Jack replied grinning and cutting in to take hold of the door handle. The smile on his face faltered as the door failed to open. ‘The door’s stuck,’ Jack said, gripping it hard and shaking it.
‘Don’t be a twat,’ Ianto said, pushing in front of him. ‘Give it here.’ He grabbed the handle and jiggled it hard but it didn’t budge. ‘I thought you said that it was only locked from the internal stairwell? Jack had keys and swipe cards for all the city’s tall buildings so that he could have unfettered access for brooding at any time of the day or night. Ianto pawed around the door handle, looking for a key hole or a card reader. ‘There’s nothing here.’
‘It’s never been locked before,’ Jack replied. ‘I’ve come here hundreds of times.’
‘Well it is now!’ Ianto replied. ‘You’ve got us locked up here in the rain!’
‘Not on purpose!’ Jack argued.
Ianto’s eyes narrowed. ‘Not even accidentally on purpose?’ Jack had been threatening for them to openly make love up here for ages, claiming that no one would be able to see them and wouldn’t it be just a little bit fun on account of it being just a little bit naughty?
‘I don’t like being locked up, as a general rule,’ he said, sounding annoyed that Ianto would insinuate such a thing. ‘Or locked out.’
‘Well, you’d better hope the rain stops soon or you’ll be finding a quick exit off the roof via more direct methods.’
