Summary: Jack is slowing down the team in their desperate pursuit. A double drabble.
‘Hurry up!’ Ianto yelled at Jack's flapping greatcoat as it moved just a few feet ahead of him, swinging around the next flight of stairs. ‘We’re going to lose it if it gets any further ahead of us!’ Ianto couldn’t go around Jack on account of the narrowness of the stairwell, but he could see well enough to know that they were losing ground with each flight of steps. Once they reached the roof, their alien quarry would be home free, able to simply spread its currently retracted wings, and make a clean getaway.
‘I’m trying,’ Jack puffed, grabbing the handrail and using it to try and propel himself onwards and upwards, but Ianto was quickly closing the gap with him and would be on top of him in seconds.
‘Try harder!’ he yelled back. God, but Jack was the immortal one. He could outrun all of them with energy left to spare.
‘Struggling to… breathe!’ Jack wheezed. ‘Think I’ve got a… collapsed lung from our earlier… scuffle with it!’
Ianto shoved Jack up against the wall so that there was room enough for him to overtake whilst Jack slid down to the floor. ‘You couldn't have mentioned that sooner?’
