Summary: Owen needs to understand that his actions have consequences. A double drabble.
Jack folded his arms, his fury bubbling somewhere just below the surface. Owen always brought out the worst in him, but that didn’t stop him from giving Owen the bollocking he deserved.
‘Alien technology does not leave this base without my express permission,’ Jack reiterated. ‘I don’t know how many times I’ve said that.’ Owen rolled his eyes, just as Jack knew he would. To Owen, smuggling out a Bekkaran deep tissue scanner and a Sontaran fission bomb were not the same thing. ‘Not only did you take it, but you showed it to a civilian.’
‘A potential Torchwood recruit,’ Owen clarified.
‘Who also just happened to be one of your ex-girlfriends?’
‘We need more people,’ Owen replied, then huffed and folded his own arms. ‘I was only doing your job for you.’
Jack stood from his chair, leaned over the desk and pressed his hands against it. ‘This is all just a big joke to you, isn't it? That woman died because you got her involved in something she should never have been a part of.’
‘You think I don't feel guilty about that?’ Owen snapped.
‘Maybe you’ll think twice before you make a big mistake like that again.’
