drabble_zoneSummary: Ianto thought he might get some peace down in the archives as he gets used to being back at work. A triple drabble.
Ianto had only been back at work for three days but he couldn't put into words what a difference it was making to how he felt. The month’s suspension Jack had imposed on him had been beneficial, and necessary time to process everything he’d been through since the last time he’d stepped foot out of Torchwood Tower. He’d needed to get his head straight, grieve for what he’d lost, and reassess what he should do with the life he was fortunate enough still to have. The archives became his haven.
‘I can’t find a sodding thing when I come down here,’ Owen moaned. ‘How long’s it going to take you to sort this place out? That’s your job, isn’t it?’ He huffed. ‘Look, can you just find these files and bring them back up when you do? I’ll never get out of this sodding place until Jack has my report on his desk.’
‘Ianto, can you help retrieve that power generator we’ve got stored down here and hook it into our mains supply?’ Tosh begged. ‘If I tell Jack that our systems have to be completely powered down for the upgrade, he’ll only get stroppy. This way I can partition off the things he might want to use and keep them online whilst I upgrade everything else.’
‘Ianto, pet, hi! Listen, you couldn’t do me a massive favour, could you? I was going through all of Suzie’s old cases, still open, and there’s a bunch of research that’s missing.’ Gwen held out a tall stack of brightly coloured manila files. ‘I’ve put on the top of each file the list of sections to check to see what we’ve got that hasn’t been computerised yet. Whatever you can track down would be brilliant.’
Ianto sighed, adding it to his list. Fantastic.
