Summary: Ianto is sure he knows the guy who just bumped into him. A triple drabble.
As Ianto carried a cardboard tray of coffees across the plass, he accidentally bumped into a young man in a blue parka.
‘Sorry, mate,’ the lad apologised.
‘No problem,’ Ianto replied, giving him a reassuring smile, before pausing. ‘Wait, do I know you?’
The man frowned. ‘Who, me?’
‘Yeah. You look so familiar.’ Ianto extended a hand. ‘Ianto Jones. Did we go to the same school? Radyr Comprehensive?’
The man gave him a suspicious look. ‘Er, no?’ He didn’t sound very convinced.
‘No? Maybe it was the local rugby squad. You were in the 1998 team that nearly won the cup that year, right?
He shook his head. ‘I never played rugby.’
Ianto hummed and tutted. ‘That’s so strange. I’m sure I know you from somewhere. You’re sure we’ve never met? Not even the Green Man festival last year?’
He was getting edgy now. ‘I really think you must have me confused with someone else.’
Ianto nodded. ‘That’s okay. You must just have one of those faces. Sorry I bothered you.’
‘Sorry I nearly spilled your coffee.’ And with that he went on his way, Ianto watching him until he was out of sight.
‘So? ‘Jack said, appearing at his shoulder, reaching over him to steal one of the coffee cups from the tray and taking a large, loud slurp.
‘I had my doubts, you know,’ Ianto replied, taking a second coffee and sipping himself. ‘I’m always nervous when you deep retcon someone like that. But to your credit, he had no idea who I was, or what he’s been doing for the past two years.’
‘Oh ye of little faith. My retcon skills are legendary.’
‘Or would be if anyone could remember it.’
Jack grinned. ‘A shame he won't ever remember that hot threesome we had.’
‘Liar,’ Ianto scolded.
