Summary: Sometimes crossing the line is considered acceptable. A double drabble.
When Jack discovered that the creature he’d shot down in the cellar was a human, it hadn’t taken him long to consult his moral code and decide that normal rules of civility didn’t apply in this situation. He’d already seen the human carcass in the woods, the thick pools of blood and flies hovering over other carcasses abandoned in their homes in the village, heard the terrified screams of the young lad Keiran as the creatures ripped him out of their protective clutches, and now, just in the past few moments, he’d seen the jars and canisters, full of human body parts, preserved in their own fluids. It disgusted him more than words could describe. Any human who had allied themselves with whatever these creatures were – even if only for their own survival – didn’t deserve mercy.
Jack had endeavoured to be a better person since parting ways with the Doctor, but there were times when the old habits of a lifetime were hard to break. He needed information and there were ways and means of getting that from someone. He knew them all, from slightly unpleasant to borderline inhumane. Inhumane was what these creatures were doing, so inhumane it was.
