Summary: Ianto finally gets recognised for something Jack has known all along. A double drabble.
Jack struggled not to beam with pride at his lover as they drove back from London. It didn't matter that Ianto wasn't beaming along with him. Rather, Ianto was curled up in the foetal position in the passenger seat, trying to sleep, or at least make the three hour journey home less miserable. Of all the days to come down with some nasty bug when he was supposed to be accepting the biggest honour the Crown could bestow for bravery.
‘Well, it's all official now,’ Jack said, hoping his mood might ease Ianto's suffering. ‘Not that you weren't always a hero in my eyes, but now you've got the medal to prove it.’
Ianto mumbled out a sound that didn't particularly translate to anything.
‘And best of all you didn't throw up in Her Majesty's handbag.’ It had been right there under the seat in front of him. Jack supposed that if you were feeling queasy, it might have looked very inviting in an emergency.
‘They probably take a medal off you for that,’ Ianto replied, squirming uncomfortably.
‘Nah,’ Jack assured him. ‘Only makes you braver for toughing out the best day of your life when you're feeling your worst.’
