torchwood100Summary: Ianto has learned to live in the moment. A double drabble.
Ianto knows that at some point, this job is probably going to kill him. Even if it doesn't, he’s sure that Jack will eventually move on or grow bored with him. After all, he’s just an ordinary bloke – albeit one who’d gotten a taste for danger and recklessness – but still far from the kind of dashing, handsome beau that Jack could have if he wanted. Either way, the future didn’t include him and Jack much more beyond a year or two, maybe three if he was lucky and didn’t end up dead.
Still, right now, in this very moment, with Jack's arms wrapped tightly around him and Jack’s mouth pressed even tighter to his, the future doesn’t bother Ianto. In the present, he has Jack’s full attention and desire, unwilling to share him with anyone else. Jack will never admit it, but he’s definitely the jealous type, and Ianto is the one thing that can make him green-eyed in an instant.
Ianto doesn’t forget to hope for the future, growing older and managing to survive both Torchwood and Captain Jack Harkness, but there’s something to be said for just living in the moment and letting life come as it will.
