Summary: Owen got the job done, but took one for the team in the process. A double drabble.
‘I got it!’ Owen called back, sounding out of breath and hunched awkwardly over the portable containment unit as it now sat on the nature strip with the spiky alien hissing inside.
‘Good work, Owen,’ Jack said, finally catching up to him after they'd each gone in separate directions, hoping to snare the alien in a pincer movement.
Ianto was the last to join their party having been given the most circuitous route as he finally slowed to a halt on the footpath beside them. ‘Are you okay?’ he asked, noticing the way Owen was still bent over and gripping his knees like he was in pain.
‘Just got my tackle caught when I sprung the containment unit. Bloody things are twitchy on the trigger if you do to give them a wide berth when they snap open and shut.’
Ianto winced at the description, as if reliving the experience first hand. ‘Ouch.’
‘Nothing damaged though, right?’ Jack asked.
Owen's eyes narrowed at him. ‘Wouldn't you like to know?’
‘Some injuries are more important than others to get checked out,’ Jack replied.
Owen clutched gingerly at his sore spot. ‘I'm a doctor. I don't need your opinion on the matter.’
