Summary: Tosh's technological prowess is dealt a nasty blow
Why wasn't it popping? she wondered, looking sideways at the device. She pressed the button again but still nothing happened. Again and again, but it was useless; the thing simply refused to comply. If she didn't do something soon, the contents would be ruined. She could always start over, but that wasn't the point. This simply shouldn't be happening. Give her an alien device of unknown origin any day and she'd have it sussed out in no time at all, but this was just utterly baffling.
She could smell the burning now. She flipped off the power source at the wall and pulled out the plug for good measure, peering back down inside it to retrieve her breakfast. Inside it still glowed hot and orange. That shouldn't be happening either. With no power, how was it still on? Smoke began to rise from the top, and any thoughts she had of rescuing her toast with a knife were dashed. It grew hotter and brighter inside and she feared the worst.
'Tosh, what's that smell?' Ianto asked, walking into the kitchen.
'It's the toaster. The stupid thing won't stop.'
'Have you turned it off at the wall?'
'Yes!'
'Okay, uh,' Ianto looked around, pressing the release button to no effect. Then it began to whir.
'Oh, that doesn't sound good.'
The whirring grew louder and louder.
'Is it just me or does it sound rather like it's going to explode?'
'Yeah,' Tosh agreed, 'get down!'
The bang was loud and the explosion impressive, had either of them actually seen it.
Jack came running out of his office,
'What the.... hell?' he said, seeing Tosh lying on top of Ianto on the floor, before noticing the large black crater in the kitchen bench.
'Is there something you guys want to tell me?'
