'I wanna go out and look at all the Christmas lights tonight,' Jack said.

'No way,' Ianto replied, tugging on a second pair of socks and wrapping his feet under him on the sofa. 'It's three below zero out there. You couldn't pick a worse night. We should stay right here where it's nice and warm, and we can curl up drinking coffee and watching rubbish TV.'

'That sounds lovely, but I really think you wanna come out with me tonight,' Jack insisted.

'The lights will still be there tomorrow,' Ianto said, knowing that the forecast was for even more frosty nights and snow. He probably couldn't put Jack off indefinitely, but he could try.

'I have to insist,' Jack said.

'Why?'

'Because.'

'That's not a reason. That's a conjunction.'

'Fine. It's because part of your Christmas present is here early, and you have to come outside for it.'

'Now I'm worried,' Ianto said. 'I don't remember putting a pony on my Christmas list. What else could I possibly need to go outside for?'

'You'll see,' Jack grinned. 'Now get your sexy butt off that sofa and dress warmly.'

Ianto rolled his eyes. 'Thank you, Captain Obvious.'

He wrapped himself in double layers of everything, adding his coat, scarf and gloves, as well as a less that flattering beanie. With Jack at the helm, there was no knowing if he was stepping out for five minutes or five hours.

'Are you ready, yet?' Jack yelled. 'We're holding things up.'

Ianto trundled out of the bedroom, feeling like the Michelin Man. Jack had his coat, scarf and gloves, but otherwise looked hardly more dressed than usual. 'You'll freeze out there,' Ianto said.

'No chance. I've got you to snuggle against.'

'Right. So, are you going to tell me why we have to go outside on the coldest Cardiff night in three years?'

'See for yourself,' Jack said, throwing open their front door, and revealing the surprise waiting outside.

'Oh my God...' Ianto said. 'Is that a?'

'Sleigh? Why yes, it is,' Jack grinned, tugging him excitedly forward. 'I couldn't get reindeer, but I figured a few sturdy Clydesdales ought to do the trick. If we're going to see the city lights, we might as well do it in style. Jessie? Is that you?' Jack called out.

'Who else?' the tiny woman replied, seated up front with the reins. 'You always promised we'd do this some time. I just figured you'd come to London, not the other way around.'

'I'll pay you double. Figure that makes up for the favour I owe you.'

'Triple,' she replied, grinning back. 'Cookies and hot chocolate are in the back. So are we going or what?'

Jack settled them in the sleigh, wrapping a blanket over their laps as Jessie pulled the sleigh down the street, bells jingling and hooves clopping.

'Still cold?' Jack asked, passing Ianto a mug of hot chocolate.

'What cold?' Ianto replied.

Jack wrapped an arm around him. 'That's what I thought.'
