'I'm telling you, Tosh,' Ianto said as he sipped the hot chocolate in his hand, his other arm laden with bags full of gifts, 'that man is impossible to buy for.'

Tosh sipped her own drink as they wandered down the high street, oblivious to the cold and the snow that was beginning to fall. There were simply too many other people out on the street with them, all crushed together, for them to even notice the temperature.

'There must be something,' she replied. They'd been debating the point all afternoon as they went from shop to shop, picking up gifts for everyone else like the highly efficient team they were. No one managed Christmas shopping they way they did. It was a fully planned operation, with nothing left to chance. Only once they'd bought everything they needed, did they stop to reward themselves. Everything that was, except a present for Jack.

'I'll ask you again,' Ianto said, 'what do you buy a man who's lived for a hundred and eighty years? He's got everything he could ever possibly need and what he doesn't have isn't worth knowing about.'

'What about a book?' Tosh said. 'There's always new books being written. Or a CD, DVD, trip to the movies?'

He sighed, binning the paper cup. He knew what she was trying to do, giving him an easy option. They were all perfectly fine suggestions, but that wasn't the point. It couldn't just be any gift; he could buy a hundred things that would be suitable for anyone else. No, it had to be the right gift. He'd traveled the length and breadth of the universe, seen things Ianto couldn't even picture in his wildest imagination. A copy of The Da Vinci Code just wasn't going to cut it.

'Ianto, I think perhaps you're overthinking this,' she said, admiring some very lovely leather journal and pen sets in a bookshop window, and making a mental note to come back and buy one for Ianto later. 'He doesn't want anything fancy. Jack just wants to spend time at home with you.'

'I can't buy time.' Would that he could!

Tosh looked around, searching for inspiration when she spotted it, right there hanging on a display near the shop entrance. 'What about these?' she said, picking them up and showing him.

Ianto looked at her quizzically. 'Are you sure?'

'Trust me. I have a hunch.'

Ianto held his breath as Jack tore open the wrappings on the gift. This could make or break their relationship.

'Oh my God!' Jack cried. 'Slippers to pad around the house in! Ianto they're brilliant, I love them!' he said quickly slipping them on and jiggling his feet off the sofa. 'They're so comfy! And they have those little grippy rubber bits so I won't go skidding across the floor like I do when I wear socks! Best present ever!'

Tosh, I love you forever,Ianto thought. Who'd have thought Jack could be that easy to buy for?

Awww! Bless Jack for being the only man who could possibly be ecstatic with the most ordinary of gifts!
