Owen felt the snap explode, having won the bigger half of the bonbon. He tipped out the contents, after the small candy cane tucked inside.

'I don't know why they bother with the rest,' he muttered. 'The jokes are rubbish and who wears those stupid paper hats?' He looked up to find his four coworkers grinning at him, all wearing silly hats in red and green, yellow and pink.

Owen rolled his eyes. 'You lot are bonkers,' he said.

'It's Christmas,' Jack said. 'If you can't be silly today, when can you be?'

'Every day if you're you,' he retorted.
