Summary: Jack is overseeing a very important project.

Jack leant over and inspected the piece of paper in front of him.

'Nope,' he said. She frowned at him and took it away again.

He'd always enjoyed being in charge, but more so when it meant he didn’t push papers himself. He was never very good at it anyway. Play to your strengths, they always say, so that's what he did, leaving the paper to someone else to deal with.

He watched her as she worked away diligently, dedicated to the task at hand. Perhaps on this occasion he should have a offered to help out, but she’d been so adamant that she tackle this assignment by herself that he was happy to let her give it her best shot. If anything, he admired her tenacity. It clearly ran in the family, that stubborn streak. And he truly wanted her to do a good job on it. It wasn’t for his benefit, though he’d come to indirectly benefit from her good work. It was all part of being a good role model, bringing out the natural abilities of the people who looked up to you. Some would called it giving them autonomy, and others would say it was nurturing, but Jack just thought it was letting people shine on their own terms.

She retuned a solid half an hour later and put it back on his desk for a second review. He smiled at the improved effort, noting how she’d taken his encouragement and suggestions, but made it completely her own. He frowned at it though as he looked at it longer. There was still something missing though, and he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. She seemed to sense that he wasn’t entirely happy with it yet, though she didn’t look like she was unhappy; more like she was trying to figure out what was missing herself.

'I know what's missing,' Jack finally declared.

'What?' she eagerly asked.

'It needs more sparkle.'

She picked up the valentines day card and looked at it again. 'I think you’re right, Uncle Jack,' she said, her eyes lighting up. 'If I bring the bottles of glitter here, do you think we could do it together?'

'Sure thing, Princess.' There were no strict rules that said he couldn't help Mica with her project. It was just being a good uncle. Ianto was going to be getting the glitteriest damn card that ever there was.

Awww, I love Jack encouraging Mica's artistic endeavours! I'm sure Ianto will love his card!

They might both end up covered in glitter but it'll be worth it. If anyone deserves the sparkliest Valentine's Day card ever, it's Ianto.
