Summary: Jack and Owen encounter an alien Jack though were extinct.

'Hold it right there!' Jack demanded, holding his gun aloft as he finally had the alien backed into the corner of an alley. It had once traversed both sides of the busy city block, but had since been built over to accommodate more commercial offices. Behind him he could hear Owen's heavy footfalls, closing the gap between them when they'd taken off running after the man. He might have looked human, but their scanners showed he was soaked in rift radiation, and no human in their right might tried to break into a nuclear power station and blow it up. Fortunately Tosh and Suzie were on hand to stop it, whilst he and Owen went in pursuit.

'You've officially worn out your welcome, pal,' Jack said. 'Now, who are you, really? Play nice and I might left the rift send you back somewhere with oxygen.'

The man sneered. 'Kill me and my family will have their revenge on you.'

'Your family?'

The man reached up to his face and began drawing a line across his forehead. Owen watched in horror as a bright light enamated from within, and the creature slowly peeled off its disguise, leaving it in a sagging mess on the ground. The real alien was even more hideous, all grey and misshapen, with big black eyes.

'Bloody hell,' Owen muttered. 'That costume was so real I thought he was actually human.'

Jack's expression turned to anger. 'It was human, once upon a time. Some poor person who probably never saw the Slitheen coming. Stripped of their dignity and their life just so it could go around unnoticed.'

'Slitheen?' Owen asked. 'You mean you've seen these before?'

'Oh yeah. Criminals from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious. You're not my first,' he said, scowling at the alien. 'Though the last time I had the pleasure, I thought we'd gotten rid of the last of your family.'

'We're not so dead as everyone likes to think.'

'That's just... creepy,' Owen said, pulling a face. Even for a doctor, there was a limit to what he could stomach. An alien disrobing from the skin of a dead human was just wrong. 'It shouldn't even be possible.'

'A piece of cake for them,' Jack replied. 'Just like disemboweling a jacket potato. I'm guessing you came here to blow open the rift?'

The Slitheen looked angry. 'It was your rift that stole me from me vessel in the first place. You should put up a sign warning people. Seemed only fair to annihilate the city for inconveniencing me.'

At that, Jack let his gun fire, and Owen heard it echo around the narrow alley until all six shots were spent, the Slitheen lying in a crumpled heap next to its suit.

'You killed it.'

'Some things can't be rehabilitated,' he replied, unrepentant. Perhaps the Doctor had thought so, but he didn't believe it for a second. Twice now they had tried to destroy the city, his home. The only good Slitheen was a dead one.

It's not like they can stick a sign on the Rift, with the way the other end wanders around in space and time. The Slitheen should have been more careful.

And there's no need to go and blow up a city just because you're having a bad day.
