Vala groaned. 'Would you stop looking at me like that, Daniel!'

Daniel dropped his pen in an exhausted way and folded his arms. 'Like what?'

'Like I've sprouted three heads and brought a devil child into this world!'

'But you did bring a devil child into the world,' he corrected, wondering where Adria was and what she was planning.

'Okay,' she confessed. 'I may have done that. But how was I to know? I was stuck on the other side of the universe. I fell in love and had a baby. Is that such an unreasonable expectation?'

'For you? Yes.'
