Summary: Ianto is finding the paperwork more challenging than expected.

Ianto grinned to himself as he bent over the table, picking up the fancy silver pen. Even today, his wedding day, there was still paperwork for him to have to do. Then he grinned again, remembering he wouldn't be the only one. All he had to do was quell the giddy excitement coursing through him for ten minutes so that he could make sure he did it right. After all the heartache it had taken to get to this point, he'd never forgive himself if their union was invalid on account of him misreading the fine print.

'Hey they, my sexy new husband,' Jack crooned, sidling up next to him at the table and grabbing a second sheaf of documents to be completed, clicking the person enthusiastically as he began filling them in.

Ianto paused as his neat penmanship moved from one box to the next, reading the instructions.

'Uh, cariad?'

'Yes, honey?' Jack replied, already enjoying adopting new affectations.

'What are you putting down as your name?'

Jack's pen came to a halt, hovering over the paper. 'Is that supposed to be a trick question?'

Ianto glanced over at Jack's documents, scanning them for himself. 'You've written Captain Jack Harkness.'

Jack gave him a queer look. 'It's my name,' he replied, feeling confused. 'Are you feeling okay, or have you been into the champagne already?'

'But you're not a Captain. Technically, you're not even Jack.'

'Ianto, I was naturalised as Jack Harkness. My driver's license says Jack Harkness. Hell, I even have old medical records with the NHS under the name Jack Harkness, and I don't think I need to tell you about my police record.'

'No, you don't,' he replied quickly, thinking how awfully colourful it would be in its entirety had he not regularly expunged the worst of it. 'But should you really put in there that you're a Captain? You stole someone else's military records.'

Jack set his hands on his hips. 'So, what you're saying is that I didn't earn the title.'

'Not quite how I would have phrased it, but yeah.'

'And you think all the years I spent with the Time Agency, and all the wars I fought in before don't count? Why do you think I stole that designation in the first place? I've been a Captain before, you know. The military records are what they are. Everything that happened after he died, every commendation, every campaign, was me.'

Ianto toyed with the pen in his hand. 'Well, if you're sure it's okay and that we're not making some illegal declaration...'

'It's fine,' Jack assured him.

Ianto went back to his paperwork then stopped again. 'What are you putting as your date of birth?'

'Just what's on my driver's license.'

'But surely that's a lie, too.'

Jack shrugged. 'So I fudge the date every couple of years. Big deal. You really want your marriage certificate to say you married a guy who's one hundred and ten?'

Ianto sighed. 'Thirty-seven it is, then.'
