Summary: One by one, Gray will get his revenge on Jack.

Gray entered the hub in a swirl of orange light. So this was where Jack had been all this time, he mused to himself. Hiding underground and thinking Gray wouldn't be able to find him. He smiled to himself remembering how good it felt, watching Jack lying there in that grave, being buried alive so that he could suffer and die a hundred thousand times over. It was no less than he deserved for what he'd done.

He cast his gaze around the place, a muddle of contradictions, old and new, ancient and modern technology fusing together. He'd gotten rid of Jack for now, which was his priority, but Jack would live forever. At some point somewhere in the future, he was bound to be discovered by the progress of industry. It wasn't enough. To truly exact his vengeance, he would need to go further and to destroy everything Jack held dear, but first he'd needed Jack out of the way.

He pondered over how to best deal with Jack's little team. One by one he'd eliminate them all, making sure that they suffered, just as he had suffered. Ideas were still formulating in his mind when he saw the gun abandoned on the desk. He picked it up, enjoying the solid weight of it, the power of life and death in  his hands.

He didn't have to wait long. Gwen and John returned to the hub. From his hidden location high above them, he unlocked the weevil cells, letting them into the main hub. He couldn't wait to watch them both be torn limb from limb, revenge for John having betrayed him. Only Tosh and Ianto arrived just in time to stop them. A pity, but only a minor setback.

Locking up the three of them was a temporary measure: the lover, the best friend and the ex partner. He'd deal with each of them in turn later, but it was the fourth one, the smart one, that was threatening to stop the nuclear power plant from meltdown. He couldn't have that. He wanted the city destroyed.

The gun felt so good in his hand as he lifted it and squeezed the trigger. The woman didn't even know what had hit her. She was going to die slowly and painfully, watching as the world fell apart and her unable to stop it. A part of him wished Jack could be here to see it, to watch the panicked look in her eyes and the way the blood seeped from her wound. She knew she was going to die.

That angered him. Why should she feel the relief of knowing the suffering would end soon? The others wouldn't get that, he decided. He'd devise ways to make them think the pain and torture would never end. He'd leave the lover until last. He'd be the most fun; the one who thought Jack was a hero. He wasn't. By the end he'd learn that lesson. One by one, they all would.

I can't find sympathy for Gray. I know he suffered, but this vengeance against Jack won't change that. He underestimates the team and Jack though, and he doesn't understand them. Tosh will keep going as long as she can, even knowing she's dying. As for Ianto, he knows Jack's no hero, just a man doing the best he can.
