Challenge 573 - Running out of options

Notes: A particularly vicious weevil leaves Jack with a difficult decision. A double drabble.

Ianto leaned heavily against the wall, cradling his forearm where the shirt had been torn to shreds. He winced as he inspected the deep, bloody wound on his arm. It was going to need more than a few stitches and only his adrenaline was keeping the excruciating pain at bay.

'In all my years,' he began, 'I've never dealt with a weevil that violent.'

It looked menacing even now when it was sprawled on the cell floor, drugged up to its eyeballs but still growling. It had taken five full doses of sedative but even that wasn't enough to knock it out cold.

Jack chewed his lip as he watched it through the cell door. 'There's no way we can release it back out there. Even monitored, by the time we got to it, it could have killed a half dozen people.'

'Those weevil bodies we found,' Ianto said, speculating. 'You think it killed them?'

Jack nodded. Very few things could kill a weevil.

Ianto came over to stand next to him. 'So, where does that leave us? Do we have to kill it?'

Jack cringed. 'I'd rather we didn't explore that avenue just yet. Let me think on it.'

Priority had better be to repair Ianto, but I'm not sure keeping that Weevil incarcerated is going to b a viable option ether, because who's going to volunteer to fed it? Whoever does might end up as its next meal.
