Summary: John has big plans now that he's on Earth.
When John landed in Cardiff he could hardly believe the place. It was a dump, and worse, it was a dump of a technologically backward plant where they didn't even know they existed in a much bigger universe. He hated these kinds of places. The natives were so boring and there was absolutely no variety. What the hell, he wondered, was Jack doing on a pathetic planet like this? This kind of place would drive Jack mad. He must have lost his mind.
Whatever. It didn't matter now. John was here to whisk him away from whatever dull existence he was eking out here in this backwater. What a bonus to come here and be able to not only make himself appallingly rich, but to also reunite with the one person who'd understood him better than anyone. Sure, Jack and he had their differences, but at the end of the day they were still just two conmen looking for a way to make a quick buck and happy to spend it on life's little luxuries. On a good day, some of those even came free and willingly into bed with them. There was nothing like a good foursome, or moresome.
And then Jack had to go and ruin it all. For all his many good points, he had a terrible habit of showing the tiniest hints of morality at that worst possible moments. That he'd just walked out on John when they'd been in the verge of scoring a decent payload only annoyed John. Who was he to get up on his moral soapbox? He'd done worse than John over the years.
That was all in the past now. John could forgive him for making a mistake like walking out on him. What was it they said? Absence makes the heart grow fonder? That was true. Things just hadn't been the same without Jack around.
And there was something else. A little project John had been working on that would make Jack come crawling back into his arms. It was a long game and John wasn't good being patient, but this would get Jack hook, line and sinker. He'd spent his whole life searching for his missing brother, never giving up hope that he was alive, even though John had assumed he was dead in all likelihood. He didn't have him in custody, but it wouldn't take long to extract him from where he was. Jack would owe him forever. All he had to do was play his cards close to his chest and pick just the right moment to make his bold confession to win back Jack's loyalty.
It was so close and so delectable that the mere thought of being back together with Jack was making his mouth water. All he had to do now was leave Jack a message and wait for him to come and find John. He'd be waiting and ready, just as soon as he'd gotten a little murdering business out of the way.
