Notes: Jack has made the mistake of putting happiness before safety. A double drabble.
Jack cut a frustrated figure as he fidgeted in the passenger seat, watching the countryside slip by in a blur as Ianto floored the SUV.
It had been a mistake to let Gwen go ahead with her wedding. Murderous alien shapeshifters hell bent on carving her open to get to their offspring was not how he wanted today to go. She should have been safely tucked away at the hub where Owen could deal with the thing inside her and get it out.
He wanted Gwen to be happy and to get her happy ending, but he should have stepped in and put his foot down. No one was getting a happy ending if this thing came in and started attacking everyone just to get to the bride. It was an unnecessary risk to take, putting that many people between it and the one thing it wanted.
'We're not going to get there in time,' Ianto said, deftly checking his watch without letting go of the steering wheel. 'Ceremony will have already started.'
'Guess we'll just have the crash Gwen's wedding, then,' Jack replied.
'Knowing Gwen, that could be the last mistake you ever make,' Ianto warned.
'Let's hope so.'
