Notes: Jack is second guessing his decision to leave Object One in Torchwood One's hands. A double drabble. Spoliers for BigFinish Audioplay "The Torchwood Archives".

Jack's fingers drummed on the desk, worrying over thoughts he couldn't shake.

It had been a few months since he and Suzie had discovered Object One in a factory in rural Wales. He'd had Suzie con Torchwood One into taking it, thinking they were actually stealing it out from under his nose and that Suzie had done a number on him.

But now the more he thought about it, the more it worried him. He'd gotten rid of it any number of times over the years, trying to destroy it or to lose it through the rift, only to have it find its way back to Cardiff once again, perfect and whole. There was a reason it was called the Bad Penny, and now he'd left it in the hands of someone he probably shouldn't have.

The thing was cursed, and as much as he hated London, he hated to think what might happen if they toyed with it. He needed to get it back. It was the only way he was going to clear his conscience.

Of course he couldn't just go ask for it. He wasn't even supposed to know they had it. He'd have to steal it.
