Summary: Jack teaches his son a valuable lesson about the importance of giving.

When Jack poked his head into the bedroom, looking for his seven year old son, he was surprised to find him on the floor. He'd rarely seen their little boy looking so crestfallen.

'What's wrong, tiger?' Jack said, coming to sit on the floor with him, surrounded by his money box and the coins spread all around the floor. 'You've got quite a stash there. I might have to ask you for a loan.'

'It isn't enough, Daddy.'

Jack frowned. 'Enough for what? A loan?'

'No. I was trying to buy Daddy a Christmas present. He keeps saying he needs a new laptop, but I counted all my pocket money and I don't have enough for one of those.' He was almost in tears as he said it.

Jack grabbed him and tugged him up onto his lap, hugging him tight and pressing a kiss into his mousey brown hair, which stuck out at angles not unlike his dad's. 'You wanna know something, Tommy? I don't have enough pocket money for a new laptop either.'

'You don't?'

'Nope. Christmas gifts don't have to come from a fancy store. But I know something Daddy would really like. How about you and Sianny and Elly and I bake some sugar cookies? We can wrap them up and give them to him for Christmas.'

Tom looked up at his dad with something akin to hope. 'Are you sure?'

'I'm positive. Daddy will love it that you've made him something special. Even more than if you'd bought him a present.'

'Okay, then.'

Jack squeezed his son again. 'Good. Shall we round up the girls and start right now?'

'Uh huh. But Daddy?'

'What?'

'Do you promise not to eat them all?'

Jack repressed a smirk. 'Just one? Just to make sure they're okay?'

'Alright.'
