Title: A coat for all seasons

Notes: Jack has a unique gift for Ianto. A double drabble.

'What's this?' Ianto asked, as Jack proffered a package wrapped in brown paper.

'A present for you.'

He carefully unwrapped it, unveiling a heavy gold-framed picture. There was a black shield with a single white chevron and three upward pointing spears. Atop that was the helmet of a knight and several flourishes of plant-like tendrils emanating from behind the shield.

'It's your family coat of arms,' Jack explained. 'I thought you could hang it up on the wall behind your desk so that everyone who comes in  here knows just who they're dealing with.'

Ianto grinned at that. It did look rather fearsome, and people did tend to underestimate his own ferocity at times. A stern reminder might come in handy.

'No dragons on it,' he commented. 'That's a bit disappointing.' Somehow he'd always hoped that his Welsh heritage included dragons.

'No,' Jack began, perching on the corner of his desk. 'Disappointing is that the first time I ordered this they sent me the English version of the Jones family crest. It was covered in lions.'

'Hmph,' Ianto muttered. 'We definitely can't have that. Spears will have to do.'

'Just tell yourself they're made out of dragons teeth,' Jack suggested.

I suppose it wouldn't do for every Welsh family to have dragons on their crest, thee are only so many positions you can put a dragon in.

Great gift though.
