Summary: It was love until death did they part.

Suzie had always hated going to Greek weddings. Weddings were meant to be joyous occasions - all about the bride and groom - but somehow the Greeks always ruined them with their overbearing traditions. So much so that it was really just a day for the parents of both parties, showing off who had the biggest family and who made the best food. That two people were joining together out of love seemed irrelevant. And that was assuming you understood any of what was going on, since there wasn't a single part of it done in English.

She knew this was one of those weddings just by looking around. Not only were there tressle tables overflowing with dolmades and spanakopita, and more glasses of ouzo than anything else, it was the people that gave it away.

In the reception hall away from where the main ceremony had taken place, men and women gathered on opposite sides of the room. The old women, babbling away in Greek, were no doubt gossiping about the younger women. One would be too ugly and spoiling the photos, and another would be too pretty and outshining the bride, in their not so humble opinions. On the other side were the men, husbands leering at said women half their age, and their sons doing the same, hoping to ensnare one to take back to their mothers for approval. She found the whole thing disgusting.

This however, was one wedding she was very glad she hadn't been invited to. It was more of a Greek tragedy, she thought, amusing herself with the pun. No one had known that the blushing bride was actually a vicious shape-shifting alien, and that the traditional wedding day for the lucky bride was to culminate in the consumption of her new husband. It turned out some people really still did love people only for the bodies.

The place was a mess. There was blood spatter everywhere from the bride having used her razor sharp claws to tear apart her husband and a few other people as well. Suzie couldn't tell one ravaged body part from another, simply collecting them all in a bag for Owen to sort out back at the hub. Back in the reception hall he was busy spiking the ouzo with retcon.

'What a mess,' she said as Jack joined her, adding his own body bag full of bits with hers. A third bag contained the bride, shot dead before she could do more damage.

'This is nothing,' he replied. 'Where she's from, if the whole bridal party isn't eaten it's considered a dull affair. The bloodier, the better.'

'That's sick.'

'That's their custom.'

'And I thought Greek weddings were bad. Let's just get all of this stuff and go.'

'But I was looking forward to the part where we smash plates.'

'I think there's been enough destruction here for one day, don't you?'

'Well, can we at least take home the wedding cake? Not like they're going to miss it.'

Sometimes Jack can be a bit lacking in sympathy. Although I guess no one else is gonna want the cake.

Why waste a good cake? :)
