Summary: Ianto's day is going from bad to worse.

Ianto's lungs ached from his relentless running around the hub. He might've known this place back to front, but Jack still knew it better. All it took was one slip up - one wrong turn or missed door - and Jack was going to cut him off. Worse still, Jack had a gun and Ianto didn't. There was also the not so small matter of Jack wanting desperately to kill him. Not that Jack needed a gun to be lethal, but it still made killing him a whole lot easier. He didn't have to be nearly so close to get off a fatal shot.

'I've never wanted to kill anybody so much as I want to kill you!' Jack's voice boomed out from behind him. Ianto gritted his teeth. It wasn't fair. A virus that made you want to kill the person you loved most and now Ianto was the target. Months of waiting for Jack to finally say the words and this was how he was going to make his grand declaration of love? This really was turning out to be a shit day.

'I'm coming for you, Ianto!'

'How are you even still upright?' Ianto muttered, exasperated. Forty hours without a wink of sleep, a virus coursing through his system causing all kinds of pain, and now a gunshot wound to his thigh - Ianto's gift to him in their earlier struggles.

Ianto swallowed hard as he remembered tugging the gun from Jack's pocket and shooting him. A little part of him had actually enjoyed it and that worried him. He'd been out on the streets with people infected by the virus. He'd been in the cells with Jack, trying to stop Jack from scratching every last piece of skin off his body. If he'd been infected himself...

Unlike Jack, he'd never denied his feelings. He'd said the words more than once, but now he realised what a deadly game they were playing. If he couldn't fight this thing, he was going to want to kill Jack as well. The two of them would never stop until the other was dead, and Jack could die over and over again. Ianto's bloodthirsty desire to kill might never be sated. Until Jack killed him, that is.

Fight it. You have to fight it. Don't give in. You love Jack. You don't want to kill him. Oh, why did the world have to be so cruel? He didn't feel itchy and he wasn't in pain. If he could ignore all that, surely he could fight against the rest. He just needed to hold it off until... Unitl what? Until Jack killed him, or until the virus did? Stage three, wanting to kill, Jack. He knew what came after that.

'Killing you is going to make me so happy!' Jack cried. He loosed another bullet that missed Ianto by inches.

Ianto gritted his teeth and ran harder. 'Oh, be glad I don't have my gun, Jack, because if I did I'd absolutely bloody kill you!'
