Title: Somewhere safe
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Rhys, Gwen
Rating: PG
Challenge: 592 - Wound at tw100
Notes: Rhys has his doubts about how safe this place is. A double drabble.
Rhys groaned as he pulled up the car in the sparsely populated caravan park. 'Great, another dump of a caravan to stay in,' he said, frowning with disdain at the set of keys Gwen handed over to him. Like every other set of keys, it had a coloured fob stating "I. Jones. 26 Margaret Street, Radyr." What Rhys wouldn't give for a nice little flat in Radyr right now.
'D'you think he had any idea what a dump all these places were? I mean, they're meant to be safe houses, right? Doesn't look too safe to me. Even the cockroaches will have given up this place.' It was more like the gritty, abandoned, post-apocalyptic version of Porthcawl. There probably wasn't even hot water.
Gwen clutched Anwen to her and gave Rhys a cold look. He knew he'd said the wrong thing. Some wounds never healed, and the one that concerned Jack and Ianto didn't feel like it was ever going to go away. This was all they had left, two dozen sets of keys for unloved hideouts, needing each and every one of them to stay ahead of whoever it was that wanted them and Torchwood finally put to rest.
