Notes: Tough times call for tough measures. A double drabble.

When Jack looked down at the butt of his gun he noticed the blood that was seeping into the wooden hand grip. He swallowed down hard as he wiped it down against the side of his trousers, trying to remove any trace of what he’d done. It disturbed him just how easy the old him had risen to the surface, ready to threaten and torture in an instant.

He tried to tell himself that it had been warranted. The man has been trying to kill him and his team, hidden in the cellar of the pub, just waiting to pick them off. He needed to know what was happening in this abandoned village and where all the missing people were. He didn’t want to add Tosh and Ianto to that list, but it was growing ever clearer that they hadn’t checked in for a good reason, and that perhaps they too had been taken.

The old Jack hidden deep inside him was prepared to go back in there and finish the job until he got the answers he wanted. It wasn’t afraid of the horror of inflicting terrible bodily harm. People like the man in the cellar didn’t deserve mercy.
