Day 33....

It's been a long week but that's what I get for keeping odd hours. I was up until midnight on Thursday trying to finish my Fan-flashworks submission which ended up way longer than I expected. What I didn't realise was that I had a whole extra day up my sleeve before the deadline. Time zones do my head in, especially when I'm virtually a whole day ahead of most. Sigh. At least I only had a half day of work on Friday (I was determined to take the monthly half day and not work through even though I still have a ton of billings to do and month end close off is Monday). Lucky I did because I was knackered all afternoon and just veged on the couch, thinking "this just be what it's like for everyone else who is only doing their minimum six hour days". Lucky sods.

Tortured myself some more by getting up at five am this morning because there was a 2hr livestream BigFinish Doctor Who play (a Paul McGann Christmas style adventure set in Edwardian London). Only someone calculated it started at 4am but set their alarm clock wrong and set it for a couple of minutes before five instead. Gutted I'd missed the first hour I logged in anyway and discovered that so long as you started streaming during that time you could still listen to the whole thing. Yay! I would have hated to have sacrificed sleep for nothing. With no football on for the last few months my body clock has stopped waking me up around 2am on Saturdays to listen live. Still, I was pretty sleepy afterwards and read a book for about half an hour, then dozen for the next half hour.

Work is still meh. I lost it a bit on Wednesday and sent back a snippy three line reply to one of my partners stating that no, I didn't have time for whatever petty thing he wanted because I had no time to work on files and would have to front up to my staff the next morning and tell them they didn't have any work because our managing partner thinks it's okay to pay us six hours but work fourteen. Needless to say his lack of reply or a sympathetic phone call the following day did t make me feel any better about the situation. We're still keeping it professional but if relaying concerns up the chain, including those of my staff, doesn't get heard it's very disheartening.

Trying to not think about work and just keep busy with other stuff over the weekend. Made a little progress on my cross stitch but not much, whilst binging Back to the Future 1 and 2 (scratched off my bucket list and confirmed as not having missed much). Also re-watched Schindler's List which still gives me chills. Lucky I was only half watching whilst stitching.

Hoping every one else is doing okay.
