Summary: Thank you seems inadequate for what Jack has done. A double drabble.
Jack looked up from his report to find Gwen standing opposite his desk with something small and cream coloured in her hand. She held it out for him. 'What's this?' he asked, studying the envelope with its fine script printed name on the front.
'Thank you note,' Gwen replied. 'For the wedding,' she added. 'I didn't want to do them but my new mother-in-law insisted I send them - hand deliver them, in fact. A thank you seems pretty pointless when we were the ones making sure everyone barely remembered it. A note of apology feels more appropriate.'
Jack smiled at the overbearing command. Few could tell Gwen what to do, not even him. Brenda Williams was a force to be reckoned with. He wouldn't want her for an in-law, that's for sure. 'No thanks necessary, Mrs Cooper-Williams. Just glad that we didn't ruin it completely for you.'
Gwen offered him a coy smile. 'I think you enjoyed yourself just fine, Mr Harkness.'
He leaned back in his chair, folding his hands behind his head as he recalled Ianto's brazen cutting in on their dance, and the one that followed it. 'I did,' he confessed. 'A pity they aren't more often.'
