Summary: Jack can kill two birds with one stone if he's lucky. A double drabble.

Alice Guppy’s expression couldn't have been more displeased.

‘It's completely unprecedented,’ she harped on, looking to Charles to back her up. He did the smart thing however and kept quiet, instead watching Jack with an expression of concern.

‘I don't know what you did to bend Emily's ear but I'm not happy about it. Even if it does mean we get rid of one of you.’

Jack bit down on his reply. He didn't care who he made happy or unhappy, all he knew was that he couldn't be here. It was too soon. He needed to be back in 2008, not here more than a century too early. He could not run into himself. It would undo his entire timeline, jeopardising not only his future but those of everyone he held dear.

‘The morgue is for the dead, not for you to play games,’ Alice seethed.

‘I'm not playing games. I'm needed in the future. They're depending on me to get back to them. This is the only way.’

Charles reached out and touched his shoulder. ‘At least let us put you to sleep first. You'll freeze in there.’

Jack shook his head. He wasn't done with suffering yet.
