Summary: Torchwood doesn't carry much weight north of the valleys. A double drabble.
'Well, that was an epic fail,' Ianto remarked, watching the cars continuing to stream past the roadblock that had been set up. 'Looks like Tosh is going to be spending an awful lot of time redacting images on Twitter of that spaceship up on Snowdon until it can finish repairs and take off safely.'
Jack sighed, having conceded defeat half an hour ago. 'I used to think dealing with people in Cardiff was hard work.'
Ianto grinned. 'Yes, never underestimate the stubbornness of the average North Walian.'
'You were telling them not to go up there, weren't you?' Jack himself had given up after the first three cars refused to converse with him in English. Ianto was his translator in situ, creating a three mile bank up of cars as he tried to turn them around.
'Oh, I tried,' Ianto said. 'But they picked up my South Wales accent and after that it didn't really matter what I said. Welsh or not. I'm conversationally fluent. Explaining there's a cloud of dangerous chemicals wafting over the area isn't as easy as it sounds. Although I did have a lovely chat with a Norwegian couple who were keen to practise saying hello.'
