Summary: Torchwood's affiliates have a ahort attention span. A double drabble.

'I think that went pretty well, don't you?' Jack asked, grinning and rubbing his hands together.

Ianto supposed he should feel pleased with himself. It was rare that anyone from Torchwood was given an audience to speak in front of their affiliated organisations. It was even rarer that they bothered to listen to anything Torchwood had to say, even if they had plenty to say. They were like ostriches with their heads in the sand. The dangers that the universe presented were someone else's problem and the less they knew about Torchwood's business, the better, in their opinion.

'Your presentation was very good,' Ianto said, placating his superior officer. He should know since he'd put half of it together. As engaging as Jack could be, his charm offensive didn't work on military leaders and politicians. They required substantiated facts and simple dot point plans.

'They rarely sit there without interrupting,' Jack observed. Sentences were usually cut abruptly short by words like "preposterous", "absurd", and "nonsense".

'I think the lack of oxygen in the room made them rather sleepy and compliant.'

Jack appeared surprisingly upbeat despite the offending remark. 'Make a note of that for next time.'

He nodded. 'Very good, sir.'

I wondered if Ianto had drugged the coffee...
