Summary: Few things have scared Ianto as much as seeing death.
Ianto had never believed in things like ghosts and heaven and hell, but Owen was beginning to challenge those strongly held beliefs. No more so than as that huge black cloud had come issuing out of his mouth, just moments before they'd been ready to put him to sleep and finally say goodbye. No one wanted to risk what would happen when Owen's changes hit one hundred percent but it seemed they were a fraction too late to stop it.
He'd never seen anything like it, that swirling, malevolent darkness. It swirled indecisively, as if choosing a victim. Ianto's stomach churned as he anticipated the inevitable. It had sensed Jack and all that life raging through his veins. Ianto could sense its hatred for him as it stormed towards his lover, felling him in an instant as it shot through his chest and out the other side, before breaking through a window and escaping out into the night.
He swallowed hard. What would the very essence of death do to a man who couldn't die? Jack was so pale and limp. He couldn't die. Not now when death was out there, killing indiscriminately.
Please come back, Jack. We need you.
