Summary: Jack carries his scars on the inside. A double drabble.

The plastic bag felt heavy in Ianto's hand as he carried it from the car to the house. It glistened with light rain, as did his coat. Both shook themselves of the rainwater as they paused at the doorstep, before stepping inside. It wasn't a night for cooking. He didn't have the energy for it and neither did Jack.

He dropped it on the kitchen counter and stepped into the living room. The cushions from the sofa were piled up and Jack was curled up against them, fast asleep.

Ianto knelt down in front of the sofa and swept Jack's fringe to the side. It had been a tough day and three deaths had wiped Jack out. He needed the sleep to recover, even if he often denied himself such a simple thing. He might look fine now, with not a scratch on him, but Ianto could still make out all the invisible hurts. Every death carried its own scars and today's sacrifices would not go unnoticed, Ianto promised.

Just because the public would never know, didn't mean it shouldn't be acknowledged. Dinner could wait. The most important thing now was to let him heal in whatever way he could.

Poor Jack, it's a good thing he has Ianto to look after him.
