Summary: Jack is jealous of Gwen's life outside Torchwood. A double drabble.

Jack wanted to be furious with Gwen. Her stupid boyfriend had made an absolute mess of everything since sticking his nose where it didn't belong. If he hadn't, they might have been able to take down the idiots butchering that poor space whale. Instead he'd gotten himself shot -which Jack didn't care might have prevented Gwen from suffering the same fate- and thrown the entire place into chaos, culminating in a shootout and being forced to euthanise the poor creature.

Rhys needed to be retconned so that he could go back to being Gwen's useless, oblivious boyfriend. Except Gwen refused. She was going to fight him on this no matter how many arguments he put forth. It infuriated him the way he had to give in. Rhys would always be more important. Why did Gwen get her happy ending, her exciting life inside Torchwood, followed always by the comfort and love from her normal life outside. He'd told her to hold onto it and never let it slip, but he'd ignored how jealous it made him feel. He'd never had the strength himself to fight for that balance. It was always Torchwood all the time. It suddenly felt incredibly unfair
