Summary: Life at the top is not always easy. A double drabble.
The knock at the door almost made Jon want to scream, or perhaps draw his sword and run it through the next person who wanted him. Being Lord Commander was a lot harder than he'd thought, even having been the Old Bear's steward and seeing it first hand.
It was harder still now of course, trying to feed more mouths than the Night's Watch and castle back had held in a hundred years, whilst also trying to ensure Brothers and Free Folk didn't kill each other. What would Mormont have thought of that, Jon wondered.
'Come in,' he called through the heavy wooden door. Eds, poked his head through the narrow gap, as if anticipating Jon's sword wielding tendencies.
'Janos Slynt to see you, Commander.'
Jon's tongue slipped between his teeth as he clenched them, creating a searing pain. Nothing was proving to be a bigger headache than the former head of the City Watch. See Alliser may have been mean and cruel, but Slynt was sly, and far greater a risk of having Jon's throat cut in the night.
Other ruler's sent their enemies to the Wall to be rid of their treachery. What was Jon supposed to do?
