Summary: Jack's daughter doesn't need career advice. A double drabble.
Jack caught the distraught look on his daughter's face as she hunched over the kitchen table with a blank piece of paper in front of her. 'Is that meant to be a piece of homework?' he asked. 'It's looking a little bit unfinished.' Or unstarted, depending on how you looked at it.
'I don't know what to do, Dad. We're supposed to write a speech on what we want to do when we grow up.'
Jack slid into the chair beside her. 'You don't know what you want to do when you're older?' Truth be told, Jack didn't want to even think about his children ever growing up. They were perfect just as they were now.
'I know what I want to be, but how can I write a speech about Torchwood? It's supposed to be a secret.'
Jack pursed his lips and put a hand on her shoulder. 'You know you don't have to work for Torchwood just because Dad and I do. You're allowed to chase whatever dreams you like. Be anyone you want to be.'
'That's what Dad said, too. But this is what I want to do.'
Jack sighed. That's what he'd been dreading the most.
