Summary: Owen is miffed that Ianto has forgotten his special day. A double drabble.


'Oi, Teaboy,' Owen called out as he'd just deposited the last round of coffee for the day on the steps of Owen's medical bay and left him to it.

Ianto turned and raised a curious eyebrow. 'Yes?'

'Where's my present?'

Ianto frowned. 'Present?'

'Yeah, it's my birthday.'

'I know that.'

Owen gave him a look of anticipation. 'Yeah, well? Even Tosh gave me a present.'

'You said last week you didn't like birthdays or making a fuss. And Tosh is an extremely nice person. No doubt she'd buy you something even if you said otherwise.'

'So, you're saying you didn't get me anything?' Owen snorted. 'Some friend you are.'

Ianto sighed. 'Fine. What's say I buy you a beer after work?'

'Make it three and maybe I'll forgive you.'

'Owen! Ianto!' Jack called out. 'We've got a triple weevil situation out in Leckwith. Pack your gear and let's go. Ianto, bottle up some of that coffee. It's gonna be a late one!'

Ianto exchanged weary glances with his teammate. 'Guess you'll be wanting a raincheck on those beers.'

'Too bloody right, I will.' He started shoving equipment into his backpack. 'See? Even the rift got me something.'

'Oh, shut up.'

Poor Owen, but he shouldn't have said he didn't want a fuss being made if he wanted presents.

BTW, the community is drabble_zone over here, so if LJ implodes, we're still active.

I didn't remember Drabble_weekly was over here on DW. I haven't paid much attention to DW apart from having an account tto post on DW comms, but I've re-imported everything over here now so it's all up to date.

I just can't in good conscience use LJ when they refuse to condemn Russia's actions. I know I'm supposed to host tw100 this week but not sure what to do about it.

Well, different name but the same community.

I hadn't considered that, I'm still posting there myself because I have readers who don't have accounts elsewhere and I don't want to deny them access to fics. I did put a message on the new drabble_weekly prompt directing people to drabble_zone, I'll do the same when it's time for the next fic_promptly challenge

Not sure what to do about tw100. I don't have access to the comm. over here - it exists and I did try to get the owner to let me take over, I got a reply to my first message a few years back, but nothing else. We could set up a new version on dw, but I don't think we can import everything from the LJ version... Thoughts?

It's a tricky one. Without the password for the LJ account we can't import the entries across.
Like you, I don't want to abandon the site on LJ because it's the legacy of so many contributors and those who might still be reading it. It's a moral dilemma more than anyhting else.
Do we take a temporary pause on new challenges?

Oh, I hadn't thought of that...

I hate moral dilemmas, they're so hard. I also hate not having a new challenge to write for, it'll screw up my posting schedule. Ummmm...

You're a member of tw100 over here on dreamwidth same as me, meaning we should both have posting access, which also means we should be able to post challenges to it even if we're not official mods. scarlettgirl never did get back to me and might not even be online these days, but she can contact one of us if she's not happy about us taking over, so we could try switching operations to here for now, just leave a message on the LJ site to let people know. How does that sound?

If that doesn't work, we could just PM new challenges to each other each week and post to our journals, not the community. That's assuming you want to keep drabbling. If not, that's fine, I'll probably still carry on myself though.

(I'm skipping fandomweekly this week, btw, because I was getting stressed trying and failing to come up with any ideas).

You're right, it's empty, looks like it was never used so I guess that gives us the option of trying to use it as the community's (hopefully temporary) base, without usable tags, or set up a new community, torchwood_100, or torchwood_drabbles, or something. Second option would mean we'd be able to copy and paste rules from LJ, add what tags we need as we go, so it would be less labour-intensive to set up and easier to use. I don't mind either way though.

I reserved the dw account tw100_drabble but I quite like Torchwood_100 too if it's available. I agree that if the site on dw has never been used, setting up a new account would give us more flexibility and options going forward. Let me know. I will post the prompt on lj tonight for this week to give us time to organise as I've got to write my fanflashworks entry tonight before the deadline so won't have time to play around with new accounts this evening.

Do we continue the challenge numbers? Probably best to in case we ever get back to LJ again, so we'll just need to add character tags and new challenge tags.

Good luck with getting your fan_flashworks piece done. Feb is such a short month, doesn't allow a lot of time.
