Summary: After a long, difficult assignment, Jack has back what matter most. A double drabble.
Jack almost sobbed as he fell into the arms of his husband. After four months of brutal negotiations, forcing the two of them to sit on opposite sides of the table, they'd finally brokered a peace deal between the two warring nations.
Today would mark the end of long nights forced to live apart, only ever seeing one another during the tense negotiations, not able to share so much as a cup of coffee together. When Ianto has said they should help the Shadow Proclamation as liaison officers, Jack had never expected them to be forced apart like this.
'I've missed you so much,' Jack said, burying his head in Ianto's soft woollen sweater.
'Me too,' Ianto replied, breathing in Jack's scent. 'I never thought doing good would be this hard.' He looked up. 'It was worth it though, right?
Jack understood the question perfectly. Was it worth jeopardising their own happiness to ensure peace in the universe? 'Of course it was.' They had forever, unlike everyone else. If they didn't do this job, who would?
'I think we've earned ourselves a bit of a break. Somewhere far away from everyone. Just us.'
Jack squeezed him tight. 'That sounds perfect.'
