Summary: Worth is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, the beholder of the eye. A double drabble.

'It's a glass eye,' Suzie said, pulling a face as she held it gingerly between two gloved fingers. 'And an ugly one at that.'

'Are you saying we traipsed all this way out here to find some old codgers missing eye?' Owen asked. 'What a waste of bloody time.'

'You'd be pretty peeved if you lost an eye,' Jack argued, striding over to the pair of them, coming to inspect their handiwork.

'I'd rather wear a patch,' Owen replied. 'Man's gotta have some dignity, not some beady glass thing rolling around in his socket.'

Jack snapped on a glove and plucked it from Suzie's fingers. 'Oh, you little beauty!'

Owen groaned. 'Great. Now he gets excited over disturbing prosthetics. What next?'

'Owen, this isn't just any glass eye. It's a Dogon sixth eye!'

'Well, he won't miss it if he's got five more, Owen said, earning a giggle from Suzie.'

'I've always wanted one of these,' Jack said, ignoring Owen's humour. 'Not for me personally, of course. They let you look back at what has passed in your life, giving you new perspectives.'

'Yeah, I can see how that'd get you excited. That back catalogue of ex-boyfriends you must have.'

I think new perspective is something we could all use, maybe, especially Jack.

Hindsight can be very enlightening, Owen. Not that you'd know.
