Summary: Jack's file is missing something important. A double drabble.
'Your personnel file doesn't state your date of birth,' Ianto said one morning carrying the file into Jack's office and dropping it on his desk.
Jack shrugged off the fact. 'Don't have one. The planetary calendar where I grew up is totally different to Earth. Solar cycles and years don't equate. And then there's all the jumping back and forth through time and space. My timeline is like a tangled ball of yarn that no one can pull apart, let alone measure it.'
Ianto frowned unhappily. 'That doesn't mean we shouldn't try.'
'We don't need a date.'
'Of course we need a date. How else are we supposed to celebrate your birthday?'
'We don't need to celebrate. I don't get older, remember?'
'Technically you do get older, you just don't look like you get older, and mostly you act like a child so sometimes I suppose it's hard to tell what the truth is.'
Jack cocked his head as he folded his arms. 'Are you trying to give me a compliment, because it's starting to sound like something else.'
'I was trying to nail down a date for your birthday. It's not about marking the years, it's about celebrating life.'
