Summary: Jack has a flash of inspiration in how to get their pet to eat its food. A double drabble.
'Phwoah!' Owen cried as he found Jack messing around in the lab, stirring something in a large metal pot over their largest bunsen burner. 'What is that muck you're cooking up?'
Jack gave the pot another stir with his spoon. 'Just a brainwave I had last night.'
Owen snorted. 'Had to happen eventually, I suppose,' he teased. 'Do all your brainwaves stink? Christ, it's like rotting fish and dead corpse all boiled together.'
Jack grinned. 'You and Suzie were the ones complaining that Myfanwy was impossible to feed. What I realised is that we just need something strong enough to help her figure out what's food and what isn't. Things were a lot smellier back in the Cretaceous period. This place is practically sterile by comparison.'
Owen snorted a second time. 'Try telling Ianto that. He thinks this place is a festering squalor and that we're all pigs. And what would you know about the Cretaceous age, anyway?'
Jack did nothing to suppress a cheeky smile. 'More than you think. Anyway, a few squirts of this on her food should have her eating no problem.'
Owen peered judiciously at the brown liquid, holding his nose. 'Barbecue sauce?'
'Something like that.'
