torchwood100Summary: Gwen has got her hands full trying to get their latest guest looking tidy. A double drabble.
‘Can I-’ Gwen groaned as the creature squirmed even more vigorously, trying to escape her grip. ‘Can I get a hand here, please?’
Tosh wandered over. ‘Thought you said you had it under control.’
‘Yeah well, that was before it decided that it didn’t like being groomed. I mean, just look at this!’ she cried holding up the brush with its wad of fur, then using it to point to the large pile of other accumulated hairballs not far away. The creature seemed to be all fur and nothing else and had looked in a right state when they’d found it, tangled up in a backyard full of brambles. Sorting out its coat has seemed like the least they could do. ‘The more I brush, the more comes out, and yet I don’t seem to be making any headway whatsoever. If it wasn't struggling I'd say there wasn't even anything alive under this tangled mess.’
‘What do you want me to do?’
‘I dunno. Find a way to sedate it or something? Just long enough that I can brush this out rather than taking a pair of scissors to it.’
‘You’re assuming we could find its skin under all that hair,’ she replied.
‘You could always try giving it a bath,’ Ianto suggested,appearing from nowhere. ‘A bit of conditioner ought to sort out those tangles.’
‘Oh, yeah, brilliant,’ Gwen huffed. ‘I’m having a hard enough time getting it to stay still to be brushed.’
‘We’ll do it together then,’ Tosh suggested.
‘Just don’t be clogging up the drain with all that hair,’ Ianto warned them. ‘Jack might give you a bollocking over his cat hair allergy but it’ll be nothing compared to the one you get if I have to crawl through the drainpipes and clean them out again.’
