Summary: Jack understands the need to lie better than anyone. A double drabble.
Jack glared balefully around the room at his teammates and knew the gig was up. He couldn't lie about the rift anymore now that Tosh and Gwen had uncovered a part of the truth, but that didn't mean he had to confess everything he knew.
Only Ianto knew that Jack was still keeping secrets from the rest of them. What Gwen and Tosh were sharing now didn’t even scratch the surface of the real horror of it all.
He noticed the way Ianto was avoiding looking at him. At least he should have had the gumption to glare balefully back and dare Jack to tell them the rest. They’d argued about it often enough, but now when push came to shove, he was happy to continue lying about it as well. It turned out that sharing the truth wasn’t nearly as palatable when you had to live with it. He’d kept Jack’s secrets for so long - happily or unhappily - but now here was the big opportunity to spill the beans and instead he just sat there and said nothing.
Not so easy, is it? Jack wanted to say. Easier when you know the lie will hurt a whole lot less.
